Typography Out Of This World.
‘Science Fiction in Typography’ is a self-initiated project, consisting of a series of minimalist posters exploring visual shorthand and signifiers – in this case the subject being a selection of my favourite science fiction films.
Each typography poster explores meaning and context, represented by the simplest typographical elements necessary to convey a complex idea.
This is predicated upon the viewer’s awareness of the context, either by personal experience (having seen the film represented), or a general cultural awareness of the film’s iconography.
The parameters for the series, is subjects can only be represented with typographic forms, using a standardised font as to only convey meaning by concept and not aesthetic style. Meaning or context is achieved or reinforced by metaphor or representation.
